Developing ambulance pharmacies and achieving their wider spread

Prime Minister Dr. Mostafa Madbouly stressed that developing ambulance pharmacies and achieving their wider spread is consistent with the state’s keenness to advance various medical services. Because these pharmacies contribute to providing medicine to a wide segment of citizens in various governorates. During his inauguration via video conference technology of 5 branches of (Ambulance 24) pharmacies after their development, Madbouly stressed the speedy identification of suitable lands and locations for disseminating the (Ambulance 24) pharmacies model in various governorates. Stressing the government's keenness to overcome all obstacles in order to achieve the goal of expanding this distinctive medical model. The opening was attended by the Chairman of the Egyptian Authority for Unified Purchasing, Medical Supply and Supply, and the Medical Technology Department, Dr. Bahaa El-Din Zidan, the Chairman of the Egyptian Pharmaceutical Authority, Dr. Tamer Essam, the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Egyptian Pharmaceutical Trade Company, Dr. Abu Al-Futouh Al-Taweel, and the Director of CEOs of the Egyptian Medical Investments Company, and Dr. Ahmed Afifi. He listened. The Prime Minister received an explanation from Dr. Bahaa El-Din Zidane in which he explained that (Ambulance 24) is the developed model for the ambulance pharmacies affiliated with the Egyptian Pharmaceutical Trade Company, and the first phase of its application begins in the five branches that are opening today, which are two branches in Cairo Governorate and a branch in each of the Alexandria and Dakahlia governorates. Assiut, as a step towards disseminating this model nationwide, within the framework of the great concern to achieve comprehensive sustainability in the health sector and expand the base of services provided to the Egyptian citizen. The Director of CEOs at the Egyptian Medical Investments Company reviewed the most prominent efforts of ambulance pharmacies.

Pointing out that these pharmacies work to provide medicines that are missing in the Egyptian market, as well as provide medicines that positively affect the patient’s psychological state, which are dispensed in cooperation with the Egyptian Medicines Authority. These pharmacies also provide all regular and therapeutic infant formulas, insulin, and oncology medications that are difficult to find in pharmacies. Dr. Ahmed Afifi confirmed that a strategic plan has been implemented to develop and increase the spread of ambulance pharmacies across all governorates of the Republic, making them work around the clock and during all days and official holidays. Also, the visual vision has been unified, which contributes to building a strong and distinctive identity for pharmacies, and enhances their recognition. He is working to convey its message in an effective and unified manner, pointing out that the first phase of the plan has been successfully implemented, which includes 5 pharmacies: Ramses, Al-Amiriya, Mansoura, Assiut, and Alexandria. The Prime Minister also watched a video about the plan to develop Egyptian ambulance pharmacies, which began by referring to The role of these pharmacies as an essential part of the health infrastructure in Egypt, as they are considered a vital complement to the Egyptian Company for Pharmaceutical Trade, and they play a vital role in providing a comprehensive range of medicines, including local and imported ones, and their mission is to improve the quality of health care and facilitate access to safe treatment for patients. He explained that the number of patients visiting these pharmacies reaches about half a million patients annually, which represents a continuous challenge to ensure that their needs are met effectively. Therefore, a comprehensive development of Egyptian ambulance pharmacies was carried out in line with the vision of the Egyptian state while supporting the health sector and enhancing the safe provision of medicine, and in implementation of recommendations. The Prime Minister requested to maximize the benefit of these pharmacies in securing patients’ pharmaceutical needs, especially in times of crises. The implementation of the first phase of the development plan was completed with the opening of the five pharmacies today, where the name was changed to (Ambulance 24) because it supports patient service around the clock 24 hours a day. And during holidays and official vacations, its services were updated and the waiting service was activated in a manner befitting patients who frequent the pharmacy, as well as unifying the visual vision of those pharmacies, as well as activating the communication service via the short number 16682 to answer citizens’ inquiries, and the second phase of the plan aims to be completed within a year. Expanding the (Ambulance 24) model geographically, with one pharmacy in each governorate, with the aim of providing comfort to citizens and relieving pressure on ambulance pharmacies in Cairo. During the opening of the five branches of (Ambulance 24) pharmacies, Madbouly listened to an explanation from the director of each pharmacy about the human and pharmaceutical capacity of each branch and the scope of its coverage. And the areas it serves, in addition to the number of patients who visit each pharmacy daily, as they indicated that each branch of the (Ambulance 24) pharmacy operates through a number of up to 3 crews, providing its services around the clock and during holidays and official holidays, and they stressed that the expansion of the branches will reduce Putting pressure on pharmacies and contributing to improving service.
